Rebecca Kourmouzi is an award-winning, young and passionate clinical dietitian (RD). She graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with first class honors in 2016, having followed an approved program in dietetics (BSc), and founded NutritionMatters by Rebecca Kourmouzi in 2017. Rebecca completed 1273.5 hours of clinical practice between September 2013 and June 2016 whilst studying on the BSc (Hons) Dietetics program. Her placement hours were covered at public and private settings in Cyprus including hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers. Through her placement time, Rebecca collaborated with other members of various multidisciplinary teams to identify, manage and monitor nutritional problems of patients. She came across a range of complex cases such as patients with dysphagia, wound care, cancer and renal patients as well as patients requiring enteral feeding regimens.
Rebecca is now providing nutrition education and support through private practice. She advises patients on weight management as well as on specific nutrition-related conditions requiring therapeutic diets, such as metabolic syndrome, diabetes, heart-disease, IBS/IBD etc. Rebecca also provides nutrition education in a range of community events such as the Cyprus Healthy Lifestyle Camp of 2016 and 2017, and in nursing and primary school educational programs that emphasize the importance of high quality nutrition in childhood. Rebecca is registered as clinical dietitian under the Cyprus Registration Board for Food Scientists, Food Technologists and Dietitians (CyRBFSTD), and also as dietitian (RD) under the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) of England. She is also an active member of the Cyprus Dietetic and Nutrition Association (CyDNA) and of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN).
Rebecca adopts a comprehensive, client-centered approach in order to help you improve your health status, live mindfully and feel your best. Her approach is centered around balance in all aspects in your life - nutrition, emotional wellness, and exercise. Together you’ll manifest your nutritional goals, and personalized meal plan. You’ll get ongoing support from her and educational tools for creating a healthy lifestyle. But above all you will learn to listen to your body and discover what works best for you!
Rebecca had been a vegetarian by choice since she was 5, and in 2016 she turned vegan due to ethical concerns. As such, she knows the struggles many vegetarians and vegans face in everyday life, from shopping at local supermarkets to ordering food at common restaurants with friends and family. This said, Rebecca is determined to apply the scientific knowledge, as well as the knowledge she has acquired through her own personal experience, to help people who wish to follow similar eating patterns adopt diets that are nutritionally complete and are comprised of healthy, affordable, tasty and ethical foods. It is now widely approved by professional bodies including the British Dietetic Association and the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, that everyone, at any age and stage of life, can thrive on a well-planned, completely plant-based diet.
